What is PRF?
PRF, short for platelet-rich fibrin, is a component of the human blood with a high concentration of growth factors. The human blood has numerous components, including red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets, and growth factors. The growth factors are responsible for most of the body’s healing processes. When you’re injured, for example, the growth factors rush to the injured site to stimulate cellular regeneration and clot formation. PRF treatment allows us to harness the regenerative properties of the growth factors.
The cosmetic provider draws a small sample of your blood and spins it in a centrifuge to isolate the platelet-rich fibrin, which rises to the top of the vial as a golden-colored serum. The platelet-rich fibrin has an incredibly high concentration of growth factors, which is carefully injected or applied to the targeted treatment areas on the skin. The PRF Treatment
Process
MAEVA Aesthetics performs a highly personalized PRF treatment after a thorough consultation. The cosmetic provider will examine your facial skin, discuss your goals, and review your medical history. After the evaluation, the cosmetic provider will draw a small sample of your blood from your arm. The blood sample will be spun in a centrifuge to isolate the platelet-rich fibrin, which will be drawn into a syringe. The cosmetic provider will inject PRF into targeted treatment areas using ultrafine needles.
Side Effects of PRF
Your PRF involves minimal post-treatment side effects, such as mild redness, swelling, tenderness, and bruising around the treatment areas. The side effects dissipate within a few days. You can resume your daily activities and work immediately, but you should avoid strenuous workouts for a few days.
